You can always add clear tea light holders or votives to add to teh table and to give the room light.

If you are having a damask pot on top of a damask runner, you mght want to consider something to break up the pattern.

 

 

Perhaps a round black placemat or a black tile

or you could do the same thing with white.

Personally that sounds like it will fill up a good part of the table and look great. I would not fill up to much space or there will be no room for guests plates and glasses etc. You don’t want people to feel crowed just because the decorations take up a large place at the table. I think you are on the right track Smile.
