It depends on how big the halo is and what your personal preference is for finger coverage. I’m a size 7.5, and I have a 2.2 carat center stone in a dainty halo, so probably similar to a 2 carat in a regular halo.

Personally, I don’t like larger stones with halos unless the halo is dainty. Actually I don’t like larger halos period lol. But I can tolerate them more when it’s a smaller center stone.

I always thought I wanted a halo. Then I got one and I don’t really like it. You should try one on in person in the size range that your looking for to make sure that’s what you want.

What is the actual band/style that you’re looking for- and are you going with a moissy stone with that size?

Sometimes I feel like the halos and shape can distract from the center stone and may encourage going up or down in size. So a round is different coverage than cushion or square.

While I wear a 6.25, I feel like daintier rings can make fingers look smaller- and clunkier styles can make them look fatter. I have the micropave stones around mine and love it- but some places make the halo stones too big and that’s distracting.

I have a 7.5 finger with a little over 2 carat diamond in center surrounded by diamond halo. I absolutely love it. Wouldn’t change a thing. I get compliments everyday.

inkspill :  You’re welcome! I advise like others have already said that you try some on. To me, it looks proportioned on my finger, but some halos may not look that way. Just depends on the look you’re going for.

inkspill :  Why does it have to be 1.5ct or 2ct?  What about something in between?

My ring is a size 6 but the center is 1.83ct.  I think the halo makes it look bigger because the diamond is set down really low.

OP, personally I would go the 2 carat but I love big stones. Go try some on and see what you love!

I have a 2.6 ct sapphire (2.25 diamond equivalent I think?) with a pretty chunky halo.

My ring size is 4.75-5, so it will not look too big at all in my opinion. I don’t feel like mine is big at all.
