I can’t tell from the picture how big they are but depending on the size they will block the view of some people at the table. If they are smaller than yes, they would be cute!

Lanterns are not only for asian inspired weddings, so I def. would say use them. What do you exactly plan on doing with them? Are you adding anything to them?

I see your wedding is in November… how do you feel about pumpkins?

I also found these which would be cheap and easy to pull off (with or without the flowers- fake ones would work too!)

Those are orchids in the water… you could use fake ones or even orange peel to get the same effect… orange peel would be awesome because it curls!

pumpkin candles are really cool too! I’ve seen beautiful pumpkin decor that can be very modern and they are cheap and look good with grey!

I like the lanterns too though… just various ideas. =)

Here are a couple I found online.  I think using all three colors with the candles would be really cute.  I also like the large/small with the rose petals,.

Very different and very neat looking

@yessy82:  As an alternative to the lanterns (which I think look odd just sitting on a table)…

You could do something like this:

They’re tissue pomanders and theres plenty of tutorials online to show you how to make them! Instead of the candlestick on the left side, you could use a clear glass cylinder (like the one on the right side *can be found at dollar tree) and fill it up with orange petals and put a white pomander on top.

If you want to mix it up, you can do the right picture but with orange tissue pomanders on alternating tables.

Here’s the cylinders on dollar tree’s website:

@yessy82:  I think the lanterns are cool! For the middle picture I’d personally only use 1 vase. I got 3 feet tall vases for my tables that only cost $12 each so shorter ones would be even cheaper. If that’s anything you’d end up being interested in I’d say use a Micheals 40% off coupon for each one  and just keep going back each day- we did and we saved hundreds!

Our centerpieces are crystal trees and they came out to about $30 each when I was finished making them.

You could even make something like this for $30 or less per table with fake flowers or without the flowers at all

I’m looking for some lanterns pics- I had a few bookmarked I’ll see if I can find those too.

Just my 2 cents here, but I like the middle one that @PoeticDoveInLA:  posted, for your idea.   The orange peel and floating candle idea is awesome.  DollarTree.com has 3″ square votive candle holders, that would cut down the cost.  This is also a possibility-done with lengths of bamboo.

These look cheap to make and very modern… I’d leave the moss out but the oranges with the large flowers in a grey box would be cool… they have those large flowers at Michaels or you could make paper flowers and oranges are cheap… adding the orange votives would really light the centerpieces up too.

I’m having a hard time finding lantern centerpieces. =/
