@LPitty:  i don’t think i’d paint the lantern.  it’s neutral.  the frame would be great in a glossy medium toned grey.  i think the flowers need to be shorter.  they are competing the with the height of the lantern.  have you considered just a few orange flower petals scattered on the wood circle instead of in the jar?

If you must paint the lantern, I would paint it grey.I like it black too.

Like the pp, I would have the flowers in a shorter jar or vase.

@LPitty:  I agree with leaving the lantern as is and staining the frame to a darker wood color. For the table number, an orange backdrop with plum lettering would really pop. I suggest not using baby’s breath at all because it would make the centerpiece look too busy. Maybe use spray roses or orange mums instead of regular sized roses and you can also use baby food jars or tealight/votive holders as smaller containers.
