I got my Fiance to make a wedding decision! Been like pulling teeth getting him to not just say “i dont care”. lol. anywho, we decided to do a theme of blue orchids. My bridesmaids will all have just bouquets of orchids and mine will be white roses with the orchids stuck in.

For the alter flowers I’m putting together a white rose bouquet with longer stems of blue orchids stuck up behind in a dark blue vase and we’ll have one in each corner of the alter. For cake flowers I think Im going to get all white roses and just get an extra set of stems that Im using on the alter and just break off the flowers and add them in. Maybe spred some white petals around the bottom.
So heres where my problem is. i cant decide what I want to do for the centerpieces. Im very lmited on budget so nothing real big. I already have a bunch of little square vases ill be using but i need ideas for what to do with them with orchids and white roses. can use just petals too. i cant have flame so no candles unless their fake kind. any ideas for me?

jsloops: You could get cylinder vases from Dollar Tree for $1 and use those for your white roses.
Fil the square vase with white river rock and add just one orchid bloom.

I had blue orchids in my centrepieces (LOVE THEM!) and my centrepieces ended up costing me around $55 each (including the ice cube light) – but that also depends on your florist and their prices. I couldn’t do candles either because we were in an Art Gallery. I know mine aren’t short, but you can get idea of how the orchids sit and using the light in the vases (which I liked better than candles anyway). Here’s a pic:
I also saw these photos of short centrepieces with the orchids and roses I thought were rather pretty (ignore the shell in the one):

Good luck!

julies1949: thanks for the idea. thats kind of what i was thinking of doing. idk about the rocks tho. maybe those clear vase fillers or even little pearsl (i got a lot of pearls in my wedding too). but i like the single orchid in the square vase idea. maybe scatter some of the white rose petals around it on the table.

I have been experimenting with submerged flowers for the last few weeks and the blue orchids and pale roses both look lovely this way. I am going to use one of these options (or the glads).
I bought a pack with the crystsals and one underwater LED at Dollarama for $3 each. The orchid stayed nice for three days and the roses still look nice after 5 days. They both floated up a bit and would look better properly weighted down. I figured this out before I tried the glads.
