I would go for hydrangeas over roses since they are larger while being similarly priced to roses, and will fill in the gaps better. Buy a couple of stems and try out the arrangement with the flowers and then evaluate, since I think they will make a significant difference.

Id be concerned about the height of the star… Will ppl be able to converse at the table? It may be fine, I can’t tell from the pic for sure.

I think the star is too much of a statement. It will be the center of attention rather than a nice accent. I’d tone it way down, both in size and in the number of cutouts.

Perhaps a smaller star? It looks cool but guests won’t be able to see each other around it.

sarahbee1016:  The general guideline for centerpieces is that they should not be taller than 12-14″ unless they are very narrow- like an eiffel vase or a candelabra stem. This is so you don’t obstruct the line of vision and make it difficult for guests to converse across the table.

Your star will also be 24″ wide which blocks fully 40% of the width of the table.

Could you use a smaller star? Or somehow elevate it on something?

sarahbee1016:  I think they would look gorgeous elevated in a stand of some sort- vase, candleholder, wire stand. Can you picture how pretty they would look with an LED light inside?

you could glue a stick through the center and use a tall narrow vase
