This more of a vent but would also be pleased if anyone wants to give some ideas.
Since day one I think the centerpieces have sressed me out! Originally we had planned on doing wheat grass in a galvanized bucket. However, I can’t seem to find anything I like to go with this idea. Plus I felt like it didn’t really go with the overall theme.
Our wedding is suppose to be along the lines of a vintage outdoor feel. I have spent countless hours looking up things online to get ideas. The picture attached is in part my vision. I don’t think the globe matches us but thought it would be cute to use the books to add height use old knick knacks, tea cups, milk glass and well anything else that scream vintage. I showed it to Fin and he said yes. I went shopping today to start collecting books….and then right when I am about to buy then fin calls and says he doesn’t like the books! UGH!!!
So I guess I am back to the drawing board. Any ideas would be great. I am a tight budget and I want our centerpieces to be unique and not something that you see at every wedding. I want them to have a vintage garden party feel…but not overly rustic.

Oh and our colors are coral and light orange. Table clothes will be white or ivory with either a runner or table square in the middle that matches our wedding colors.

Here are a few inspiration pictures I found. I really like the look of the lanterns with things in them

My theme was garden, not vintagy, but have you considered a another kind of potted plant, like this? Maybe those decorative hat boxes they sell at Marshals with a plant inside? Just throwing some ideas out there.

@Nola: I think the bride responsible for your inspiration pictures is selling those very same items in the Classifieds section of WeddingBee. I saw it on here a few days ago.
I also like the lantern idea with things other than candles inside of them (e.g. flowers, birds (fake ones), etc. Doilies definitely scream vintage for me and I was shopping around for them a few days ago. I can point you to the sellers I’ve contacted if you are interested.

You are getting married in New Orleans, right? I’m using lanterns like the ones in the photos above for my wedding in New Orleans in December. They have fake battery-operated candles in them, which actually look pretty good, and I will be able to put some flowers or berries or something in them too. With some evergreen and little votives surrounding, I think they’ll be nice.
If you’re interested in buying them after my wedding, let me know and I’ll send you photos of what I have. They cost about $12 – 15 each (there are two different sizes), and I have about 12 of them.

like your original wheatgrass idea only using moss:
these vintage lady head vases are charming. They also make reproductions. Pictyre this with flowers or feathers:
vintage watering cans:

Gah! I have the EXACT same problem! We are also having a vintage themed wedding and the centerpieces are going to be the death of me!
