You can use flameless or battery operated candles.

These moroccan style lanterns are so beautiful on their own that I wouldn’t worry too much about addding other things.

What colors are you using for your wedding reception?

You could surround them with river rocks or jewel-like pieces if that would fit into your scheme.

 

Or use Moroccan tea glasses with battery operated tealights.

Could you put an LED light in there for the Lighting effect!?

And maybe set it on top of a round or square mirror =)

I like the use of petals all over the table rather than just around the lantern as shown in this pic:

I think the lanterns are beautiful- decfinately with flamless candles in them and maybe in votives surrounding them.. What are your colors?  Your theme?  Depending on those factors, river rocks around them or moss could be very nice and add a subtle color to the tables.

Awesome idea!  Have you already purchased the lanterns?  I don’t know if you have a Z Gallery by you or not, but they sell lanterns just like that in various sizes for really cheap.  Oh and they have lanterns in a ton of different colors.  Happy planning!
