You can try Maxwell’s in Worcester (http://www.maxwellmaxine.com/). It’s in a neat old industrial building, the food is good and prices are reasonable, and the location is very central. I think the brunch is $20 per person, and maybe you can arrange something less expensive for a larger party.

I also think Publick House in Sturbridge (http://www.publickhouse.com/) would be pretty cool.

There are plenty of other restaurants with function rooms in Worcester listed in Yelp (http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=restaurants+with+function+rooms&find_loc=Worcester%2C+MA)

I’m curious what you end up choosing.

PACC in Gardner, MA is around $300 to rent and you order food from one of the approved vendors.  They don’t charge for a bartender.  Most of the food vendors are pretty cheap and tastes good.  I would recommend having it on a Friday or Sunday depending on when the party is because most places are going to be booked already. I would say save the money on the hall and make sure the food and entertainment is good.  People remember the food and the DJ the most from any event.

DJ MaShane (http://www.DJMaShane.com) has pretty good party prices and are really fun to work with if that was the direction you were going in for entertainment.   They have DJ lighting for the dance floor thats included and if you really wanted they have a percussionist that can play drums to the music to give songs an added unique factor.   I was a wedding planner for years and have helped organize a lot of bridal showers.

Good luck
