kelseyleah:  I live in central PA too, and when we were looking at venues in the area I really liked the harrisburg civic center.  I want to say that they’re site fees are around your price range.  And I believe they let you choose your own caterer which can help you keep costs down.  We probably would have went with the civic center if they weren’t booked through the month we wanted to get married.

Ultimately, I ended up getting married at the Gables at Chadds Ford.  I would recommend them to you a thousand times over, but I think they’re a little out of the way for you (about 2 hours).  If you would consider going out that far, its really lovely.  I think we paid about $1250.00 in site fees for the ceremony and reception (Saturday Brunch Wedding). Then we ended up spending about $45.00/pp on food.  But everything was great.  There’s a lovely garden are for the ceremony.  They even have a really nice tented rain patio that you can use a rain plan.  They just rennovated their banquet room to make it a little more seperate from their main restaurant, and it looks really nice.  The place is actually a restored dairy barn, so there’s a bit of a country chic feel to it.  Oh and there’s the cutest little bridal suite for you to get ready in, which they stock with champagne and snacks for you.

Check out John Wright Restaurant. It’s in Wrightsville, right across the bridge from Columbia

kelseyleah:  there are a lot of barn options in lancaster and York and a few in harrisburg. Do a google search and they will pop up. I know you prefer a barn/b&b but if you do consider a ballroom check out park inn radisson in mechanicsburg. They definitely had the most reasonably priced packages. Good luck!

I have had a few relatives get married at a beautiful park up by Lock Haven but I think that is too far out for you.

Central PA is beautiful though and I am sure you will find something perfect!

OMG, I’m from Harrisburg area too! I’m having a very small wedding, less than 50 people also. I’m having my wedding in the vineyard at grandview in mount joy. They are providing chairs and table plus reception and ceremony in the same place for 2k. The sucky thing is I have to provide everything else which is also semi good because my wedding is pretty simple so I don’t need anything fancy. You get to choose your own caterer so my caterer is a little less than 2k so with the venue and caterer, it’ll be about 4k. I’ve looked at other places but they require minimum people which is usually over 75 people. Good luck with everything, it’s nice to see someone else from the area.

Oh and I’m getting married in May but I’m sure the vineyard is beautiful in September/October. That is originally what I wanted but didn’t want to wait too long.

Another Harrisburg bee! Lancaster has a lot of gorgeous venues. Someone I work with just got married at the Leola Inn and it was beautiful! Wyndridge Farm in York is very pretty, too, as is Historic Shady Lane!
