- Wedding: July 2011
We are thinking of having a small-ish ceremony (plus grooms dinner, rehearsal, and dinner/small reception after the ceremony) in a location about 300 miles from our hometown. A sort of “destination wedding,” if you will. We will include the wedding party, family, and closest friends, my guess is around 100 people total.
We would love to have a large reception (we both have large families and social networks) with either dinner or good appetizers, cake, dancing, etc. the following weekend back in our hometown for the rest of our friends/family/coworkers, and anyone who can’t make the trip to our ceremony. My question is: Is this OK? Will people be offended if they are just invited to the “2nd dinner/reception,” even though our ceremony is out of town? I don’t want to be cheap (although we are on a budget of course), and we will include food in our 2nd reception. I have a friend who had a true destination wedding and had a lovely dinner/reception upon their return. I wasn’t offended in the least. Please help! Any other ideas or suggestions would be welcome!
