Fresh Pro: You can usually buy “last chance” roses for cheap and use them for aisle petals. Biodegradable, so if you don’t pick them all up it may not be that big of a deal if you’re outside.

Fresh Con: Could stain cothes if they’re colored and/or crushed by people walking on them to stain hems, shoes, etc.

Silk Pro: Super cheap. Buy in bulk. No chance of staining due to crushing them.

Cons: Not biodegradble, you’ll have to throw all those suckers away and pick each one up.

Freeze dried: Pretty much the same as fresh, but they might be pricier due to the added process of freeze drying and may crush/crumble and get all over the place when walked on

I didn’t make an aisle runner, but I did use silk rose petals to line the aisle for our ceremony. They looked real, too! I got them from etsy and paid about $50, and had plenty. It would probably be very costly if you used fresh/freeze dried petals.. plus, you could resell the silk ones afterwards 🙂

I would do silk. you can get them well in advance and hey, who doesn’t love checking one more thing off their “to do list”, especially when it comes to wedding stuff!

Make sure someone is in charge of cleaning up after the ceremony.

Our venue has restrictions about silk flowers.  We are only allowed to use something that can be mulched up after the wedding.

But we did consider making an aisle runner with silk petals, I got way over my head and gave up LOL.  Now I’m looking for alternative decor…maybe very minimal.  That route really turned me off to ceremony decor.

I’d say go fresh and save yourself the work 🙂
