What are your thoughts on ceremonies in the hotel banquet room?
Things aren’t coming together for my wedding the way I had hoped – and for lack of options – I’m thinking we’ll just end up having the ceremony and reception at the same hotel. The problem is, the hotel we picked doesn’t really have a nice area for the ceremony. It will likely just be on one side of the ballroom.
I’m a little upset. I guess, I don’t think its all that “special.” I know it will be more conveinent for all our guests. and we can have pictures taken elsewhere. Have you guys seen this done? what do you think? tacky? can I make it nice?

I have seen a ceremony and reception in the same room. It was made nice with decorations and the fact taht you knew the bride and groom reallly loved each other! I would say you would have to do pics prior to ceremony. At the end of the day its about you marrying the one you love and not about fancy rooms and what-not.

I’ve seen it done. You should check with the hotel because when I was looking all of the places charged extra for ceremony set up. The prices ranged from $200-$2000.

@sarg88: I am having my ceremony and reception at the same hotel, but not the same room. I would definitely ask the venue coordinator what your options are. Could you use another smaller room? Do they have an area outside? I think with the right set up and decorations it could be really nice. Plus, it will be so much easier on you and your guests to have everything in 1 spot.
