Hey all! Does anyone have an ideas for how to decorate for a ceremony that will be in a theater? The seats will be cleared so we’ll have rows of our own chairs set up but I’m not sure what to do with the stage as the backdrop. Also, our theme is a vintage European cafe feel. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
PS – we have been collecting lots of jars and wine bottles. Was thinking of doing something with that but not sure.

I’m not sure if this is a movie theater or a theater where they produce live plays.
You could make a backdrop to look like the old wording screens from silent movies.
Build a standing wall, paint it with black paint, or black chalkboard paint, then use white paint or white chalk to replicate the old silent movie signs. You could pick a saying close to your hearts, a favorite quote from an old movie, or a favorite love quote.
This is just an example to show the idea.
Or you could have someone with computer skills make the sign for you and project it onto the theater screen.
If the theater is a movie theater, you could project a scene from a famous romantic movie- not play the movie- just the one scene
If the apron ( the part of the stage in front of the curtain) is large enough, you could hang a monogram on the curtains and have the wedding in front of the curtain.
The wine bottles could be cut to make candleholders if you are interested in a candlelight wedding.
you could make a backdrop of hanging bottles with flowers or pomanders
Let us know if you are looking for any other ideas. Are you planning on getting married on the stage? Will you have the reception there also?

Wow Thanks so much for the ideas! I hadn’t thought about the chalkboard idea and we are actually going to have mini chalkboards (to show the menu). It’s an actual theater where they conduct plays. We plan to have musicians so they could be on the stage performing. We will be converting the same place for the reception. Here’s a picture of the place to get an idea. If you have any other ideas, please let me know. Thanks!!

@msdelc: There are quite a few old posts here on wedding bee about theater weddings. Do a search and you might find some more ideas.
