Our wedding is 12/13/14 and I need some ceremony decor help. We will be getting married in front of a fireplace but I’m not sure what I want to do about decor. The fireplace has a huge tv above it which Im not a big fan of (it’s the only thing I dont like about our venue) BUT the rest of the venue is gorgeous. I’m going for a romantic feeling and being that it’s winter I want alot of candles and the lights to be dimmer. Just not sure if anyone had any ideas of what I can do about this mantle and TV situation. Our colors are lilac and ivory and we’re doing tons of ocean song and ivory roses as our flower. I attached a link to the picture of the ceremony site. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Can you ask for the tv to be taken down?
Can you use the tv to display a photo? or photos of you & your fiance?
Can you prop something else (a mirror? photo?) on the mantle in front of it to cover it up?

I dont really want the tv on. Maybe I can see about propping something up on the mantle to cover it up. They’re a little stingy about somethings ie. candles on the aisle is a firehazard even though they’re in a vase… but I’ll try it and see what they say.

kristi.duey: You could go to Staples and have an engineers print made of any picture that you love- one of the two of you, a collage of your oarents’ and possibly grandparents’ wedding pictgures (if none of them are divorced) or a saying or quote that you both love.
Engineers prints are produced on very thin paper. You can have a 3×4′ print done for less than $8.
You can use spray adhesive to attach it to a sheet of foamcore, which is similar to ligtweight styrofoam. Then cut some blocks of styrofoam that are deeper than the tv. Glue these blocks on the back of the foamcore. You can now use 3M Command picture hanging strips to attach the whole thing to the wall. Because the picture, foamcore and the bricks of styrofoam are all very lightweight, the picture hanging strips are plenty strong enough. Just be sure to follow the isntructions.
You could use the same technique with foamcore and bricks of styrofaom on the back to cover the whole wall above the mantel. The foamcore could be covered with silk flowers, moss fabric etc
