At my ceremony (in only *18* days!) we had originally planned to use black resin chairs and ivory chair sashes. These were meant to coordinate with the fact that I have an ivory dress, and then we are using ivory burlap for an aisle runner, etc. We are also decorating with black lanterns of varying sizes/shapes, a big black iron arbor with a swag of flowers in our colors (peach, apricot, ivory, champagne, pops of yellow, and greenery). The “Here Comes the Bride” sign, ring bearer’s pillow, and flower girl dress are all in ivory, as well. The wedding is in the countryside at evening.
My wedding coordinator has suggested that I change my chairs to be white with black sashes because she believes the black chair will get to hot in the heat of the day for guests to comfortably sit on. My concern is that the white will look “off” with all of the ivory touches in the rest of our ceremony decor. I let her change the rental order but still have time to change it back to black with ivory sashes.
Thoughts? Should I leave them white or change them back to black? 🙂 Thanks in advance!

I have an ivory dress and was set on ivory items in my decor, however after seeing a set up in a few showrooms and holding an ivory swatch up to the white chairs and tablecloths or ivory tablecloths I chose white. My FGs are now in white also, the tulle is mostly white.
I went white because contrary to what i was getting paranoid about from reading on here making my dress look dirty – the white made everything pop! I even brought my dress and Flower Girl dresses outside in the evening (evening ceremony here too) and they still looked great altogether. I really think the white chairs will make your ceremony seem fresh, and with all the black it will also help visually keep things cool if you are having a heatwave like we are here.
Good luck, and I think the white will be lovely!

Thank you so much for your thoughts. It’s nice to know that someone else has struggled with this decision as well – I do feel SUPER paranoid about all the small details that probably won’t even be a huge issue on the wedding day. 😉

The poll is pretty much tied. Anyone else with some insight into this? 🙂

Honestly, I don’t think most people can even tell the difference between ivory and white when it comes to the wedding shades. My dress was diamond white, but the chair covers were actual white, and I couldn’t tell a difference at all, even in the pictures, later.

as long as the table clothes match the chair covers… when we went to pay deposit @ recpt hall they were setting up a wedding.. the table clothes and napkins were ivory- chair covers were white with a pink sash..it was Totally noticable even in the dim lights.
Im mainly doing ivory, dress, tablecloth an chair covers, but we are having babys breath centerpeices and the white will make them pop more.
Good luck on your decision..18 days! wow 🙂

I’d prefer the look of the black with ivory sashes….are they organza sashes though?

I think the white chairs will look much classier and pretty so that got my vote. I don’t think the white will look off next to the ivory as the ceremony has a lot going on and ivory won’t be the only color in the entire room.
