I am posting this for my friend! She just got engaged.. her dream has always been to have a winter wedding and winter park seemed perfect. but the people over there seem to not be very helpful, maybe due to the fact that its so busy for ski season that they dont really need the business.. not sure. Have any of you guys ever done a snow wedding? do you guys know of any venues or anyone that has done this before? she dreams of pictures in the snow and a gorgeous venue ! Thanks guys!

Winter Park…So I am assuming Utah. My first instinct is probably that having it in a major venue like that would likely result in not so friendly reception. They are probably so busy with the season this year and next year that your friend will not likely get the attention she will want.
Why not take it to a lesser venue. The beauty, in my opinion, of having a winter wedding is the snow, not necessarily a large fancy ski lodge. What about northern Utah? I travel frequently to Logan and the setting up there is gorgeous and the people are super friendly because its a small town. There is the large lake up there too, Bear Lake. There is also the National Forest just east of the town. It seems everytime I go up there this winter they have snow!
I am not from Utah, but I would say try to stick to national/state parks and away from Winterpark/SLC area. It will be cheaper the people likely won’t be as bothered by your request to have a wedding during their peak season.

Ah, I can never remember! I live in New Mexico so thats where I ski 😛
I think the same would apply, look for a smaller venue in a state park or national park. I know there is mesa verde by Durango, that would be a unique location. Silverton is nearby too, which I think would be an awesome spot, and the skiing is extreme!
I think Miss Champagne just married in Vail. That could be an option. If she really wants the ski lodge area, there are a ton up there between Breckenridge, Vail, Arapahoe, Copper, etc (there are ton) she would likely find someone that would be helpful.

Diana — if you find out what state/city she is looking in it might be a better idea to post to that specific location board (look to the right column, there is a map, click on that and it will take you to all the different locations) and people can help you with location suggestions!

Ski resort weddings can be so beautiful! She just needs to find a resort that is willing to give her the attention she deserves. If she feels Winter Park is blowing her off, maybe she should try somewhere smaller like Eldora or Copper.
I so wish I could have had a winter wedding!

You might also check out Mrs. Cookie’s posts & recaps. While she didn’t marry during the winter, she did get married at Breckenridge so she might pick up some location contacts that way.
I would have LOVED to have a "snow wedding" if for no other reason that the ski lift photos, but alas it would have meant the majority of our family wouldn’t have attended. So summer in the Georgia Mtns. it is 🙂
