So I have a bit of a ceremony location dilemma. I had searched long and hard for a perfect location that was beautiful inside and out. I did find the perfect one that had everything I wanted, then Mr. Posh shot it down. He thought the inside of the building smelled musty (mind you, this was built in 1700 but was a beautiful mansion)… anyway I digress from my dissapointment in that.
We found another place, right on the Ocean. It’s a very nice victorian building and has a good sized front yard to seat everyone for the ceremony, however there is a small road in front of this and then the ocean. I am very concerned with vehicles driving by during my ceremony. I became even more concerned when one of my bridesmaids told me she was in a wedding on the same street last year and the cars that did drive by HONKED WHILE THE CEREMONY TOOK PLACE. I know I would lose it if someone did that. That would definitely drive me into a Bridezilla frenzy.rarrr!
I already looked into using the local church, however this is not an option for three reasons:
1.) it will cost well over $1000(between church fees, getting our own priest & transportation)
2.) they are booked for my day
3.) Mr. Posh did not get confirmed and doesn’t want to go through the classes (sigh)
So it seems like I have two options left:
1.) Have the ceremony outside but somehow block cars from seeing the ceremony/ guests from seeing the road
2.) Have the ceremony inside
If I go with option #1, I’m not really sure what to do. Do I drape flowy cloths? I’m not really a gazebo kind of girl. I also feel kinda bad, you have an unbelievable ocean view and I’d be blocking it.
Help me fellow bees!

i’m not sure how a car horn would ruin your ceremony — if anything, it’s something to laugh about later. when you have a ceremony outside, you run the risk of onlookers and their noise. if you really think this would ruin your wedding, have the ceremony inside.

OH man, i would try to find somewhere else. The ocean can be sooo loud and cars honking would be so embarrassing. Its hopefully not too late to try to find somewhere else.

@Alisha1190: Not possible. already gave them the deposit and the nearby church is booked.
Any ideas for outdoor decor that could block cars from seeing us?

i agree with kitzy car horns wouldn’t ruin your ceremony. i mean you’re getting married! i don’t anything would ruin my wedding day..but if you think it would really bother you then inside is probably your only option

If you’re outside, you’ve got to be prepared for people to beep horns, stop and stare, whatever. You don’t really block anything – some decorate the surroundings, but that’s all. If that doesn’t sound like you, best do it indoors.

If you decide to go outdoors for the ceremony, make sure you mic yourselves outside near the ocean so guests can hear. Nothing is worse than sitting through a ceremony when you can’t hear what is going on.
If you decide to go indoors ceremony, you can always try to encorporate the beach into your reception to still take advantage of the outdoors. Maybe cocktail hour is outside?

I think a venue with unpredictable factors can work but only for a bride who can go with the flow. It doesn’t sound like you would be able to laugh it off like some others suggested. Maybe you can convince Mr Posh to revisit the first option? I think an old building smell is easier to deal with than too much noise.
