My Fiance and I both live in Sydney Australia so i’m not sure that anyone on here will be familiar with these locations.
We went and looked at 2 outdoor ceremony locations yesterday: Elkington Park, Balmain and Clarkes Point Reserve, woolwich. We loved both of them although both had some Con’s.
Elkington Park: all street parking and hardly any available spots for guests (we are having max 120). I’m scared many would rock up late to the ceremony because they can’t find parking. (we were keen on this place as
It has a rotunda that would be a good back up if it rains).
Clarkes Point Reserve: Beautiful location but no cover. We would have to hire a marquee which is so expensive considering we are only having it as a back up for an hour at the most before we leave. (our reception is at the epping club). We also would have to pay the council a fee just to put one up plus the fee to get married there and the marquee just makes it so expensive.
What do we do?

@cuddlz88: I certainly don’t live in Sydney, but is there a way that you could pay to mark off parking for guests? If not, is there a way to put an insert in the invitations/on your wedding website to inform guests that parking will, um, take some time?

If you use Ellington Park, can you have your guests park somewhere else and provide a shuttle for them to and from the park from the alternate parking location?

I would choose the first site with the rotunda as backup. If your guests are from the area , some of them will be familiar with the parking issue. You could include an insert imforming them about the parking concerns, or add it to your website if you are having one. Aask you lose friends and family to also pass on the info by word of mouth.
It seems silly to spend a large amount of money on a shelter that may not be used.

Thanks for the feedback in the end we’ve decided to keep looking.. the marquee idea is too complicated and expensive.. can’t believe the money they make out of u from hiring marquees and erecting them on public parks not worth it! We didnt want to do the mini bus thing either as people will be coming from all different directions so if anything the ceremony location was the most central place to meet anyway.. back to the drawing board!

@cuddlz88: My fav picnic spot is Elkington Park! ALMOST had my ceremony there but like you, didn’t like the parking situation.
Try north shore areas, they have some nice hidden parks and coves.
