4.5 minutes is A LOT of time to fill.  I really cannot think of anything that could fill that time without it looking like you are trying to fill the time.

Is it possible to have your piano/cello duo stick around and play that song for your first dance?  That way you get to hear the entire thing without having to try and come up with something to fill up 4 minutes of time during your ceremony.

I get you want the full piano look and you will have that for the ceremony, but if there is a way you can rent a keyboard for the reception then you can have that song played for your first dance.  And no one will be looking at or caring that he is playing on a keyboard as long as it sounds good.

Agree with PP – I really cannot think of any way to fill in the time without it looking like this is exactly what you’re trying to do. You’ll need music at other times during the ceremony (such as when you sign the register), can’t you just have them play the same song during this time? This can often take a few minutes, so you’ll definitely get to hear most if not all of it.

What about just having them play part of it for the processional and then having them play the whole thing during cocktail hour? Or if you won’t be around during cocktail hour, play it a couple minutes after the ceremony, while the marriage certificate gets signed and right before you go off to take photos?

spoilerssweetie:  Oh, I didn’t realise people did this! Every wedding I’ve been to has had the legal stuff signed during the ceremony (often before the first kiss and everything). I attended a wedding a few weeks ago where the couple played a slideshow to music whilst they sat down and signed all the paperwork. It was actually really nice – the photos were all of them throughout their relationship.

You could use that song for your entire processional, so when it starts your BMs walk down the aisle, and as it plays out you walk down the aisle during the last minute of the song.

Any chance you are having a Jewish ceremony? If so, you could have the song continue to play while you do the 7 circles around your fiance.

Going out on a limb with that one!
