I was just curious as to who is having live music for their ceremony versus recorded music! I was told over the weekend that I “need” live music, specifically like a live guitarist. I didn’t think most people did that, but some people have friends/family who play various instruments also… so I want to know, where is your ceremony music coming from?

There’s a piano and an organ in our chapel. I wanted recorded music, J wanted the organ. We’re compromising on the piano. Not sure who’s going to play though.

We are having a live harpist and flute player.

We asked a close friend to play simple piano during the ceremony. The processional is going to be “the luckiest” and when I walk down it will be “canon in d”. We have to figure out the rest right now.

I’m doing live Ceremony music. I have a pianist play the prelude, bride’s entrance (the wedding march), processional, and recessional. I may have live soloist do a nice Christian romantic song about being married. I haven’t chosen the song yet…

we hired a string quartet

Live music would be great, but I would only want it if someone we know would be interested in doing it. It’s very important for us to not have a wedding full of people we don’t know taking on critical roles like the music played while we’re getting married! We still might luck out with this, but I’m perfectly happy having pre-recorded music that we love.

We had a violin and cello, and it was perfect. They charged $300 for both musicians for an hour and 15 mins (our fee also included a small travel fee, though). Totally worth it for us, and exactly what we wanted.

We are having a solo cellist play for our ceremony and cocktail hour.

For the Interlude (I think that’s what you call the time while guests are getting seated) I figure it’ll be some pre-recorded stuff. Maybe some Vitamin String Quartet.
For the processional my cousin is pre-recording a piano arrangement of a Death Cab song. No lyrics.
During the ceremony FI’s sister is going to sing live. . . no idea what song yet.
For the recessional we’ll walk out to a recorded version of Cake’s Love You Madly with lyrics.
