I am having my ceremony at Rancho Bernardo Winery and then having a Chinese banquet at Pearl Chinese Cuisine. We are having it on their property, but not at the pavillion which costs more than 1K.

I would also suggest looking into public parks and beaches.

Good luck!

We’re having our wedding at one of the ceremony sites in Balboa Park (there are like 12 of them).  The cost for the site rental is only $250.  We’re having our reception at a great restaruant called The Butcher Shop (it’s in the Kearny Mesa area).  They have been wonderful to work with, have a seperate area that they use for wedding (or other parties).  Prices are VERY good for what you are getting.  Google them to check it out – so far Fiance and I have been VERY impressed.

I can’t help with the San Diego area, but I agree with checking public parks and beaches.  We’re having our ceremony in a town park and it is only $100.  Wooo!

A local park. You may be able to get a picnic spot for free (or you may have to pay, like, $25 an hour to rent it). The only thing is public parks usually have restrictions on setting up tents, using confetti, and having amplified music (or, at least they do here).

We’re using Mount Soledad – I believe it’s around $300 or so and can be booked through the La Jolla Parks and Rec office. It overlooks all of La Jolla and is absolutely beautiful!

I used the San Diego parks and recreation department to book a park in La Jolla. The permit is $500 and it’s issued on a raffle basis. You have to go the the parks and recreation office on the first Monday of the month you are getting married in a year before the wedding. I am sure you can look up the info on their website. If you are closer to your wedding date give them a call anyway they may still have your date available.
