What about some large umbrellas? (Like what you would use at the beach).  I think you could position them to block the worst of the light, and I’m thinking even if you can only find them in crazy colors, you could probably spray paint them white. The paint might even help them block more light.  I’ve seen them online for about 15-20 dollars, and you might be able to find them on sale for less.

Also I would go to the venue at the time of day your ceremony is and take a look at where the sun is, and where you could set something to block it- at 4 in the afternoon it may be low enough in the sky that a regular tent would do nothing to block it.  You might need to look at screens or hanging panels or something depending on how high or low it is.

If you don’t want to wear sunglasses, how about regualr glasses or contacts? Have you been to see a doctor to find out your options?

I’m like you, my eyes hurt so much when I’m in the sun. It’s a shame because my cubicle has a window, and I have to keep the blinds drawn almost all the time 🙁

I saw a beautiful picture of a couple getting married under two trees- the branches formed an arch above them. If there are trees at the site, maybe you could do something like that and be married in the shade?

I’ve also heard of couples making/ buying arches covered with fabric to be married under- it might provide enough shade.

Good luck, I hope you find something that works!
