I wouldn’t put anything about him not being there.  Just list him as a groomsman like everyone else.

You could list him as an honorary groomsmen, thats what a friend of mine did.

@Scrchik17: Really – I would just list them all in ABC order and not make any note about him not attending.  Although you aren’t trying to do so, pointing out that he isn’t there kind of overshadows his role and importance to you and FI when truely he is no different than any of the other groomsmen.

It kind of comes off as you saying “Well yeah, he’s a groomsman, but …” (hesitant, uncertain, wavering) as opposed to “Yes – he’s a groomsman” (confident in his support of you and FI).
