Please help Bees! I have a few announcements/requests I want in our ceremony program and could use some advice on how to word them or even if they need to be addressed…
We will have bubbles for guests to blow as we leave the church. I want to make sure people know they are there and that they should NOT be used during the ceremony (we have quite a few kids that will be in attendance).
Letting guests know there are sound proof rooms at the back of the church in case any young ones get cranky during the ceremony.
Telling people to turn off or silence their phones.
How do I let people know these things without coming off as rude?

Well these are all valid concerns – however generally people are pretty on board as far as the cell phone thing, it’s good to find a way to squeeze these things in there.
You could print out a very simple “program” which each guest is handed as they come in – kind of like a church bulletin. It could have your picture on the front, your names, etc.
Inside, just write the order of the ceremony (if you want!) and/or stick your announcements in there however small or large you think is necessary. Believe me – people will read them! I’m ALWAYS fidgety when I come in to a wedding, just so excited and nervous, so having something to read really helps with the anticipation!

I would say the easiest thing, and also the most “proper” thing (if you’re worried about that) would be to have your ushers relay the information. Have a couple ushers–one that can tell guests these things as they come in, and one that can be seating guests. That way the information is delivered in a more subtle way, as opposed to being made as formal “announcements” in your program 🙂

My friend did a program and at the bottom of the ceremony order she did put in smaller print please turn off all phones…. honestly everyone that saw it and i only showed it because ive been getting ideas for my programs laughs at it and thinks its tacky. i think most people know to turn off their phone so i didnt list it on mine
