So our wedding is October 1, 2011 and the ceremony time is 5:30PM
Do you think that a wedding at 5:30PM is to late?
The reason I planned it for 5:30PM is so that I would have time to do my girles hair to save them money and to get everything decorated.
Plus my FH sister got married in 2009 and had a wedding at 2 PM and by 7 PM everyone went home. I thought “thats no fun, no real partying going on, no real celebration.”
Well now the FH family (who I should tell you is never on time, never sticks to plans, Pretty much no fun-they will probably leave early anyways!) are complaining that its to late.
Now my family (which is huge 3x the amount of his family) loves to celebrate in a BIG way, thought it was PERFECT.
Well I sat down today and showed the FH the back of the wedding invitations and he said that the time was still an issue that his family was still complaining about it!
What do I do? Do I leave it at 5:30PM or change it to an earlier time?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t think its too late, but I got married at 7pm. Is your ceremony in a separate location than your reception? Is you ceremony going to be long? Are you planning on taking pics for more than an hour after the ceremony? If not, I don’t see what the problem is.

Our reception is located at the same facility. The ceremony is only 20 mins long. As for Pictures, we will be taken a few not anything major. Maybe 30mins to do photos. While we are taken photos, there will be cocktails and finger foods!

I don’t think it is too late, but I think the important thing is that you and your Fiance come to a JOINT decision so that he can support you by dealing with his relatives.

I am getting married on the same day 10.1.11 and my ceremony and reception are also in the same location. My ceremony will begin at 6pm and will last about 20-30 minutes. We are having a cocktail hour immeditely following the ceremony, to allow us time to do our formal pictures with family. And everything concludes at 11pm. I think it is going to work…at least I hope it does 🙂

5:30 is fine, especially for a Saturday.

Its definitely not too late. My wedding was suppose to start @ 5pm but we actually started it @ 6pm. The joy of getting married in a beach city and family not having a sense of urgency.
Starting @ 5:30 will give you time to get dressed and take photos before hand. And I do suggest you take as many pictures as possible because its really hard to get family to take pictures after the ceremony.
