That will take longer than 5 minutes. Do you have a different person doing the reading? It will take a minute just for them to stand up and get to the front and then to sit back down. Do you have any music playing during the transitions? That takes time too. Overall, I think the tranistions will take more time that you are thinking, and if your officiat is good, he’ll be speaking more slowly than normal.
Overall, I think it will take more than 5 minutes, which is good, because 5 minutes seems super short…. I think you have a great outline too. There’s some good stuff in there,, but it won’t be too long either. Just go with your script. Sounds good to me!

lahela017 : Thanks! I was shooting for closer to 10 minutes, but I think it would be good for it to take more time to get through the ceremony than the precessional, lol!

longtobee : lahela017 : I read everything outloud and timed it, and it did take 5 minutes. But I agree with lahela017 : that if someone else is doing the reading, it will add time for them to stand and sit

MissCtoMrsR : I’m glad I’m not going crazy! At least it gives us time and we don’t have to rush? Lol, oh lordy. This could be interesting…

I’d allow about 120-140 words per minute. And there will be time between different people speaking.

Transitions always take longer than you expect! I think it’s lovely, and your vows are so touching.

I’m just coming back to this thread to update it for anyone bee who is looking for anwers to this for their own ceremony. When I ran through this it consistently took about 5 minutes. Our ceremony came in right around 10 minutes (not including precessional, or recessional) which is exaclty what we wanted. Also, my uncle was so nervous, so I’m sure that had something to do with it!

Most non-religious weddings I have been to have been about 10 to 15 minutes from the time the bride starts walking down the aisle to the time the couple walks out. I highly doubt yours will be 5 minutes. The JOP will take a lot more pauses than you are likely accounting for, and there will be moments that linger, etc. It’ll be around 10 minutes give or take. Which is both standard and appropriate.
I don’t see any sense in worrying about it. As long as you’ve got the elements that you want in there, it really doesn’t matter whether it ends up being 5 minutes or 15, does it?
