- Wedding: September 2015
This week I was supposed to make the deposit on the perfect ceremony venue. It’s this adorable old house turned into a little french style shop/cafe that is located right across the street from the hall we’ve booked for our reception. It’s the perfect combination of the vintage/rustic feel that I want, and the backyard wedding that Fiance wants. I met with the owner a month ago and she said yes, they would love to do my wedding. It was going to be this lovely little afternoon tea backyard wedding and I was so excited. Then all of a sudden, she stopped returning my emails. I asked her if she needed a deposit, then for about two weeks I heard nothing back. Finally last week she replied to me. We went back and forth a few times, decided on a ceremony time, and she told me they would send me an invoice THIS WEEK and I could make a deposit whenever I was ready.
Well, about half an hour ago she emails me and tells me they have decided to stop doing weddings. Now, I understand that’s not a decision that was made lightly. They do a fair amount of weddings, so that’s a lot of revenue lost. There’s obviously a reason they made that choice. But at this moment, I don’t care what the reason was. I’m left with no ceremony venue, no officiant (she was supposed to get me all the information for the one they use), and no idea what the hell I’m going to do.
I still have time, and we have the grounds for the hall so that’s always a good backup plan. It’s a beautiful heritage building and it’s always been my favorite one around. But it’s close to the street and I don’t know that I want spectators for my wedding.
I’m just so frustrated. I thought the big stuff was dealt with, and now I’m back at square one. And this place was seriously so perfect. I want to cry a little bit, but I’m at work so I can’t even wallow properly.
