Sorry for this vent and for being so upset about my insignificant first-world problems, but here it goes:
My fiance and I met at our church when I was 3 and he was 7; we volunteered there together, his mom was my Sunday School teacher there, we had youth group and kids club and summer programs there, and we were baptized there on the same day. THat’s where we fell in love, and everything started, so logically, that’s where we would get married.
BUT our church is getting redone. It’s already not very pretty (the pews are in kind of rough shape, the carpet is drab, the lighting is a little off), but they’re going to put in banquet chairs. For some reason, I am NOT HAPPY with that decision at all! Call me old-fashioned, but I think that if I get married in a church, I want there to be pews, otherwise I can have my wedding outside or in a fancy ballroom! Unfortunately, my fiance doesn’t feel that way at all and is adamant that we get married there because of all the memories. All that I can think is: if they’re changing the seating and the carpet and the windows and the lighting, is it really the same?
He’s got his friends and our pastors pressuring me to just let it go; they say that the pictures will look fine, it will be okay, but I just don’t know. Should I just suck it up and agree to having the wedding at our church, or should we try for somewhere nicer?
Thanks Bees!
Oh, and they might be doing the carpet and chairs burgundy, and the bridesmaid dresses will be mint. I won’t know until December what colors they are 100% doing.
