okay so we had a place up here in Portsmouth. but after alllllllllll of the add-ons it ended up being double our budget (excluding flowers, dresses/suits, etc.).
So now we’re back to Boston which was our #1 place anyway. We know where we want to have the reception, the Marriott, however where they hold ceremonies is not us. We would like it to be private, outdoor with an ocean view.
Our list is hopefully going to be about 125ppl. The budget is tight, as are most peoples these days. Any recommendations??? Thanks In Advance.

I was in a friend’s wedding a few years ago that was held at the Long Wharf Marriott and the ceremony was outside on a large dock. I don’t know if the Marriott arranged that, or if they had to work with the city to hold the ceremony there. The food at the reception was great by the way, I’ve been to two wedding receptions at Marriotts and on both occasions they really came through on the details!
Also, I know this isn’t on the water, but in college I lived on Arlington Street facing the Public Garden and they held wedding ceremonies there every weekend. I’m fairly certain that because it’s city property the fee is only one hundred dollars to hold a wedding in the Garden. (And no, I’m not a multi-millionaire with an enormous apartment on the Garden, Emerson College just used to have a dorm right there!)

Honeybird: lol. Yea, we’re planning on having the reception at the Lon Wharf Marriott. What large dock are you talking about? I know there’s a cricular area by where the boats dock but it’s surrounded with people & teens skateboarding back & forth, sooooooooo not appealing. I’m glad to hear the reception was good!
I thought of the Public Garden but Fiance doesn’t like it. He’s not a huge fan of Boston all together which annoys me but whatever. Thanks for the info!

I think it was that circular area you’re talking about. My friend got married the second weekend of November outside on the dock, it was so cold that there weren’t any people around. I didn’t even think that it might not be a private area because we saw no people the entire time we were out there. However I would not, under any circumstances, suggest getting married on the water when it’s twenty degrees outside. I really hope you find the perfect place!

Yea, it must be the circular area, past the Charter House. It being summer the place was crowded with people.
I would NEVER want to get married on the ocean in November, lol, OMG. You must have been freezing.
Anyway, we’ll find a place, thx again 🙂

You might want to try Venezia. The ballroom has gorgeous water views, and the food there is excellent. I know they do ceremonies on site, but I’m not sure exactly where they would be held. It’s not right in Boston, so I think rates will be cheaper for you than something right in the city. Hopefully you find something you love!

A friend was married at the Long Wharf Marriot and had her ceremony indoors and it was beautiful. I forgot what part of the hotel it was in but I can find out if you are interested. Also have you considered Faneuil Hall/Goverment Center?
