Hi ladies! For those of you having a January evening wedding, what time are you having your ceremony and reception start? I was thinking of having the ceremony at 4 and the reception at 5 but that would mean the wedding would end at 10. I feel like that’s too early? We can extend the hour for additional money but wanted to get your thoughts as to whether we should just have the ceremony at 5 instead. Thanks!

@Saeliz:It is up to you. My ceremony will begin at 5:30, cocktail hour from 6:30-7ish, and then first dance etc.

Hi Date Twin 🙂 My ceremony will be at 3 pm, then the cocktail hour from 4:30-6 or so, then dinner, toasts and dancing starting around 7 or 7:30. But ours goes till midnight.
You could always have some kind of “after party” if you are worried about it ending early. The only problem with starting a ceremony later, is that it gets darker earlier in the winter… At least it does here. So that is something to keep in mind

Our cermony is at 2:00 (catholic mass), then the reception starts at 5:00, ends at 10:00. Since it gets dark so early, I think and evening wedding starting at 5:00 is fine. I also like it ending at 10:00 because then the older people can go home, and we can all go out in the city. Just need to find the afterparty bar.

our ceremony is at 4 pm (we’re having a candlelit ceremony at our church, since it will be dusk at the time in january in MN) with a reception to immediately follow (5-midnight).

Thanks all! I feel a bit better then with it possibly ending at 10. If people are having a really good time we do have the option of extending it and paying OT. We will also be going back to the hotel to the bar their afterwards.
