Chateau Morrisette is incredible dog-friendly (a portion of all their wine sales goes to animal shelters) – it’s in Loudoun County.

South, towards Fredericksburg, Cooper is another very pet friendly vineyard.

ETA – I know inside the tasting rooms at Cooper the dogs were walking freely, but I don’t know if they have to be leashed and how much they’re allowed outside!  But at least I know they let dogs on their property for people doing wine tastings…

Most vineyards allow them, also Fairfax county has historic buildings on parks that allow them too.

A number of the vineyards in Charlottesville, including the one where I’m getting married (Keswick Vineyards), allow dogs for the ceremony. Pippin Hill Farms is another pet-friendly vineyard there. Just as an FYI since you mentioned it may cost less down there, I thought the same thing which is why I chose Charlottesville over Northern VA, and it’s actually considerably more expensive.  C-ville is a HUGE destination wedding spot (#2 on the east coast behind Charleston) so prices are marked up. I’m actually bringing my photog from DC because he was thousands less than the c-ville photogs and just as great. Good luck!

The Hotel Monaco in Old Town Alexandria is a pet friendly hotel. They have a beautiful outdoor courtyard that hosts weddings (and a “Yappy Hour” for dogs weekly in the summer!) All rooms are pet friendly and they even give you a dog bed, dishes and a free toy when you check in with a dog!

They are pretty expensive, but might have what you’re looking for!

I’m your Charlottesville bee!  Almost all of the vineyards are dog friendly.  In addition, Clifton Inn is dog friendly. We only considered dog friendly venues.  Feel free to ask me questions!!!

If food is being served indoors, the dog won’t be allowed there per health code.  If food will be served outdoors, the dog can stay.  Keswick Vineyard (NOT the hall) would be a good choice…the rental fee includes the tent.  Castle Hill is a solid option, but yes, it’s expensive.  It’s all expensive here.  ๐Ÿ™‚

We got married just about a month ago at Pippin Hill…we signed with them before they even opened.  The owners have 2-3 dogs.  ๐Ÿ™‚

Panorama Farms might be a place to look into.

If Charlottesville is too expensive for you, things are much less expensive here in Lynchburg (50 mins. south of Cville). I’d be happy to find out what here is dog-friendly, if you’re interested.

Mrs.Mink & I are holding down central VA for you ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, one thing to consider: the vineyards won’t usually let you bring in your own wine.  The quality of the wine was definitely a factor for us when we looked at venues.

Feel free to PM me if you have questions or want to chat!

By The Way, we hired a wonderful girl from an errand running company to be my dog’s handler for the day.  It worked out SO well!  Here’s the post I wrote about it: http://www.weddingbee.com/2012/05/10/pet-sitter-dogs-in-weddings/
