This may very well be a stupid question but what is a certificate of liability insurance?? Apparently my reception venue now requires this little stipulation…Clients must provide a Certificate of Liability Insurance with coverage of at least $600,000, naming the (name of venue) as an “additional insured.”
What is that???

our venue has the same requirement – except we need Personal Liability and Liquor Liability Insurance to protect from any alcohol related accidents. Our coordinator said sometimes you can add it on to homeowners insurance or can buy it thru http://www.wedsafe.com.

I had to get it as a self employed hairstylist so that if I get sued I am covered. So maybe the venue does this because they serve alcohol and can not be sued if someone gets in an accident? I would think they would just have it on their own already.

Well what I think is strange is that they also require that the alcoholic beverage service company proivde evidence of liquor liability insurance coverage of at least $1,000,000 and the caterer has to provide something similar as well. I just dont want to screw anything up!

we have to do this too. it is $360! our caterer has the alcohol permit, we just have it for liability.
