I saw this post in another board and thought it would be fun to ask CF-ers here: What things do you spoil yourselves with, or are able to indulge in, because you don’t have kids?
For us, we are able to put more $ into retirement, spoil our animals, and leave at the drop of a hat to go on vacations.
Also, I like being able to watch violent/cursing/horror TV shows and movie, and walk around my house in my underwear. We also like to go to upscale eateries, and go out at night. DH and I also don’t feel guilty when we eat candy and ice cream for dinner (only once in a while!).
So my fellow CF Bees, share yours!!

Long, leisurely travels, sleeping in in the mornings, and spontaneity in plans. Plus, walking around barely clothed in my house doesn’t hurt haha

@MrsWrangler: Oh yes, the sleeping in. I love sleeping in 🙂

Putting lots of money into savings, not having to worry about what school district our future home will be in so we can buy anywhere we want, not having to plan the future around anyone but the two of us. It’s great!

The quiet. As one mother I worked with told me: “When the kids are in school and my husband is at work, I like to turn off the lights and just SIT there in the quiet cause I don’t get it very often.”
It may sound weird but i like that I can take my quiet time for granted lol.
Also, everything stays clean longer because I don’t have to worry about child-proofing my things or cleaning up after spills, messes, baby equipment, and toys.

Financially/materially, very little at the moment, as I’m a student, and we’re trying to save for a deposit on a property, so money is tight.
For us, at the moment, our indulgences are things like lie-ins, spontaneous nights out (we eat out at least 12 times a week; not anywhere fancy or expensive, but it’s just lovely being able to do that so easily, without worrying about getting a babysitter), and long-haul holidays (esp to adult-only hotels 🙂 This is our main luxury), or last-minute short breaks. Also, I will be able to continue my studies and do a PhD, which would be impossible due to the time and cost if we wanted children; so being able to puruse my education, and a career I want, is wonderful to me 🙂

I’m a home design/nesting/dwell nut, so also an indulgence for me was to not have child-friendly decor in my home in various shades of primary color. Also, I would love to adopt some rescue pitbulls and large dogs in the future, and I don’t know if I would do that if I had infants or little kids around.Yes, pits are generally very sweet dogs, but sometimes with rescues, you don’t know what they’ve been through and what might set them off, this is really true of any large rescue dog. I just wouldn’t be 100% comfortable.

EXACTLY! My child is 25 and out of the house, and I can do what I want now.

Living where ever we want because we do not have to worry about finding a good school district !
