I can’t imagine how that was necessary.  When a baby poops in his pants at Target, we all know about it.  Instantly.

Im 30 and have always known that I didnt want children. My husband luckily has 2 grow up daughters from a previous relationship, but they were in their teens when I met him. They live with their mum so I never really had to ‘raise’ them, just take them out once in a while but at that age its actually enjoyable becuase they are basically adults.

I’m not keen on babies, toddlers and probably any kids under 6. I cant stand the amount of mess that comes with them like nappies, sick, sticky hands when they eat. I like to stay clean, even my dog has the type of coat that doesnt mault!

I do think kids can be cute, and if someones biggest dream in life is to be a mother then good for them, I’m just too selfish with my own time to want to give up my entire life for this thing that is entirely dependant on me for so much of its life.

lovelyruby :  I’m a teacher and teach kids ages 3-14.  I do enjoy it most days and of course I like kids otherwise I’m totally in the wrong profession.

The irony is I think my profession is what has pushed/is pushing me away from wanting kids.  I deal with whining, crying, arumentative kids who don’t listen the first time and it’s like an uphill battle a lot of days.  Then I meet the parents who want to make their kids’ lives as easy as possible and I realize the kid is expecting their mommy or daddy to do everything for them.  (I literally saw a dad zipping up his 9 year old daughter’s coat yesterday………)  I’ve had parents undermine me soooo many times, and they promise/tell the kid one thing without talking to me first.  I get the whole “my mom said this…so I don’t have to do that…” crap all the time.  I literally had one of these situations yesterday where the kid talked to me and her mom just fell out of her mouth, you could tell they had rehearsed it.  She basically wanted an easier project because “my mom can’t even do it”, so I found a way to tweak her current project to make it a touch easier, but not by much.

I’m pretty set in being CFBC in terms of not having my own children, however my husband and I have discussed fostering school age kids and potentially even adoption if it is the right choice for us.  I feel a stronger pull toward helping take care of kids who desperately need homes instead of having my own kids.  Plus we are very uninterested in babies and toddlers.  The crying.  The screaming.  The diapers.  No thanks.

lovelyruby :  I do like kids. My fiance has an almost adult son and I do get excited at the idea of being a grandma.

Splodge2003 :

My Dh has two adult sons from a prior marriage who live on the other side of the country.  The thirties are such a delightful decade.  Thirty plus year old children are fabulous.

It’s looking more and more unlikely that there will be grandkids.  Dh is ecstatic about that.  He got snipped after his obligatory two.

ljm308 :   Being a teacher definitely put the nail in the coffin for childbearing here lol. When my students would ask me why I didn’t have kids, I would say “Because I already have over 100 of you, that’s more than enough” lmaoooo

I want to play! Darling Husband and I have been together over 5 years, married for 2, both 29, and we’re definitely CFBC. I’ve jokingly offered to pay for a vasectomy and be his personal nurse for his 30th birthday, but I maaaaay get slightly more serious in my offers! Anyway, he’s great with kids through his job as a park ranger, but he definitely gets his fill of them during summer day camps! I work from home and as an adjunct professor, so I like my peace and quiet. When my students ask why I don’t have kids, I tell them that I feel more maternal towards college students than small kids. We have our two dogs and bearded dragon, and that’s just fine with us!

Whenever someone says they’re pregnant, all I can think is that they have ruined their lives.

We are very happy with our dog and our money. We get to move to Amsterdam because we don’t have kids. I’ll take that over a baby any day.

6 years with SO and no plans for (human) children. I’m terrible with kids and have no urge to reproduce.

Weirdly though, I feel almost more tolerant towards children since we made the decision to be CF…it’s like “screaming kid in public? Not my problem! Lalalala.”

‘Grown’ is the important term here.  It wouldn’t be a problem if they lived closer.  Unless they decided to pop out grandkids.

That’s really a big part of it, isn’t it—the peace and quiet you get to enjoy when you’re CF.

Also, is any one else just freaked out by the thought of being pregnant? I know its supposed to be the most natural thing in the world, but the thought of something else moving around inside me actually make me feel so creeped out! And the loss of control of a lot of bodily functions etc, no thanks!

And yet when my best friend was pregnant I was so happy for her and really curious, I just dont want it for myself!
