I say of you can fit it in your budget, go for it! I personally like the look of chair covers, we just can’t really afford them. That being said, if you think the chairs would look okay without them, and you dont have room in the budget, you can make a room look good without them.

I like the look of them but its a way for us to cut down the budget as the venue has new plain black chairs that look fine without them. One place we looked at had gross looking chairs so we would have had to have chair covers!

We are having them. I have already bought all of my linens except the tablecloths from linentablecloth.com – we’re waiting until we have a venue nailed down to figure out what kind of tables we want.

I got the chair covers for about 2.19 each + an additional 20% off.. the sashes were were by the dozen and were pretty cheap too.

@CMaebelle:  We aren’t getting chair covers, but we’re renting chiavari chairs.  Our venue offers a discount, and it would actually cost about the same for us to rent chair covers and sashes as it is for us to rent the chiavari chairs.  I never thought we’d be the type of people to care about chairs, but my fiance and I both decided we really liked the look of the chiavari chairs.

I don’t think chair covers/sashes are necessary unless the chairs are hideous, though.  If they’re just plain (not ugly), you may be able to skip them.  If you can easily fit it into your budget and like the look, though, you should get them.  I think it’s all about personal preference and budget.

@CMaebelle:  That is surprising that your venue offers the covers yet expects you to clean them and iron them after the fact. Seriously? I wouldn’t use their chair covers if they expect you to do that much work into using them. That is not worth the work and hassle after your wedding to have to do that. Depending on what the chairs look like I would just go with the chair sashes, I know they look great on the more elegant chairs that can get away without a cover also. But if they are anything like where I am having my reception (where they look like chairs you would see at a conference center) the covers and sashes to up the elegance factor a bit. But if you can get away with it, I would not use the chair covers and use sashes or forgo them all together depending on the type of chairs at your venue. 🙂

urquidlinen.com has sashes for 73 cents each. I ordered from them and received my chair covers and sashes in like 3 days.

The only thing I would say is call them and ask them about the color before you order. My grey organza was very green looking so he’s sending me the grey satin instead.

    Just a thought for you!

Depends on what kind of chairs you’re using. If they’re chiavari chairs or some nice looking chairs, a sash is good enough, if any. If they’re unsightly chairs, you may want to think about chair covers.

@CMaebelle:  I personally don’t like chair covers and they’re mostly made out of cheap-looking satiny material so I don’t think you need them unless the chairs at your venue are really, really hideous. Which they probably aren’t, and seriously, of all the weddings I’ve even been to over the years, I honestly don’t even remember which ones had chair covers and which ones didn’t – it’s not worth the extra money, use it on your honeymoon!!!

@CMaebelle:  And uh, did you say that YOU have to iron AND clean them???? That’s ridic, I can’t believe they’d expect that of you. So not worth it!

It depends on what you want to spend and the effort you want to put in.  Personally, I think chair covers look like pillow cases on a chair, and are not worth that kind of money.
