I have been going back and forth with my mom about chair covers for the banquet chairs at the reception. We are doing black, white and yellow decor and the chairs are a dark maroon. Without the room decorated they don’t make much of an impression one way or another but I am worried that they are going to stick out or take away from the decor once we have the tables done. On the flip side they are kind of expensive and there are some pictures of the satin ones with the big bows up on the venues website that are wayyyy to girlie for me. If I did them I would want to do really basic black polyester. If you had chair covers do you think they were worth it? If you didn’t did you regret it? Help!

My friend who recently got married, her venue advised her not to bother with them as when everyone is sat down and men put their jackets on the back of the chair it’s just pointless. Personally and no offence seeing the polyester ones in the flesh they can look cheap.

I personally don’t like the look of chair covers, but then again maroon chairs I can’t really picture it.
All venues should invest in some nice plain chairs!

I ended up not doing them and it was 100% fine. I really went back and forth on it – until I had a conversation with a coordinator who told me if I had extra money to spend on decor, I’d be better off using the money the chair covers costed on something that would make a bigger impact.
I think if you are on the fence about this, chances are, you can get away with not doing it.
also – if you end up doing it – you could simply have the sashes tied and folded inward vs. the dreaded big bow….
Can you post some pictures of your venue and the chairs so we can see, to advise better?
