I’m in the same boat too. The chairs at the venue we’ve recently choosen match the decor and aren’t ugly like some other venues I viewed, but I’m not sure if I should go with a simple tulle sash on all the chairs or just the head table to make it appear more formal. We are factoring in time and cost since our bridal party is helping us with setting up for us the day of the wedding. Opinions?

ladywoodelf :  I don’t think you need chair covers at all! Those chairs are beautiful the way they are. I also would just put the sashes on the chairs at the head table. Most times, sashes just get in the way and fall down as guests get up and down.

ladywoodelf :  A true formal social event would never have those tulle bows on any chairs. Those are an invention solely belonging to the wedding industry. Your chairs are fine as is.

I’m covering the chairs in our dining room and chapel in white cos the venue’s ones are hideous.

To rent them is costing me I think $1 per cover. And is so cheap and worth it IMO.

We’re doing a very classic almost 50s inspired wedding so it suits us and our vibe.

Up to you.
