Hi Bees! I need your input. I am torn over what to do with my venue’s chairs for the reception! They aren’t terrible, and I am going back and forth between options. So here is a pic of the chairs with silk covers and one without.
I didn’t think the chairs were too terrible (and the gold would match my color scheme nicely).. I was talking to the site coordinater and she said a wedding last weekend used a simple sash and they looked really elegant. Great! I could just use a purple sash and save some $.
So next, I inquired with the preferred rental company about adding sashes, and then this woman says to me that the photographer called her last weekend and asked her why there were no chair covers because the chairs looked “weird.” So she advised me to either do Chiavari rentals or chair cover + sash. However, I’m not positive I like how the chair covers in the photo look. Maybe something more fitted? I can’t imagine spending $7 a chair for the Chiavaris x 150 people (even though I know it would make the room look SO elegant), but then I feel like a sash + cover will be upward of $5 anyway. If I saved the money and just got a sash on the gold chair, I could add other pops of color with napkins and tablecloths. So here’s where you come in! What would you do?! I seriously need to stop debating over these stupid chairs, Fiance thinks I am a crazy person right now! haha

The chair looks perfectly fine to me. I don’t think the covers add anything special at all, quite the opposite. I’m not sure why your photog has such an issue with them; they’re pretty nice chairs for something that comes with the venue. Unless you think the pattern on the back is going to detract from your overall look, I’d leave them as-is.

Personally I really dislike chair covers. I think the chairs themselves are nice and I think they would be perfect with a sash.
Plus saving that $$ for something else would be great too.

@Nicoley1985: I don’t think the chairs are bad at all! Why not just work on your table setting and see if it would work on its own, with the chairs as they are? You can always decide about them later.

I would leave the chairs as is. I think they are gorgeous.

I agree with the other ladies, the chairs look good alone.

I like the chairs as-is. I am not a fan of the silk covers, at all.

I voted for just add the sash, but I think I would even consider just leaving them alone. Those are really nice chairs!

I think you need another option in the poll – I think the chairs look great as they are, I wouldn’t add a sash, to be honest I think a sash on a bare chair would look a bit odd. I say get your pops of colors from the napkins and centerpieces. They’re pretty chairs, leave them be!

As a guest, I’m not a fan of covers and sashes, I would much prefer a chair without a slippery cover or a sash that is going to fall off. I’m with the other ladies – save your money and use the chair on its own!

i would just leave the chairs. honestly when the room is filled no one will notice the chairs. and plus they are perfectly fine. i vote no cover or sash. if i were you, i wouldn’t even waste money on renting chivaris.

Don’t add a sash or a chair cover. Save the money and leave the chairs the way they are. Use the money on something else other than the chairs.

i think the chair covers look weird – plus once people are seated and they start putting their jackets/purses over them i dont think it really matters to be honest
of the two chairs shown, i prefer the uncovered chair

I can’t stand my venue’s chairs, so I have to choose whether to upgrade to chavari chairs, or cover+sash. It’s the same price either way, and I personally think chavari chairs are SO uncomfortable, so we’ll be going the cover+sash route.
I completely understand how some wouldn’t like the look of the cover though, but think the sash along might look odd. You’re totally fine with your chairs being nekkid if you want to save some moolah, they look good alone 😀

Im in the same situation only difference the chiars they provide are so ugly that I either have to use chair covers, which I hate or rent chavari chairs which are $11. But I think your chairs are fine without the chair covers and you said the gold would match your color scheme so I say go for it.
