Our venue supplied the folding metal chairs as well so we rented black wood folding chairs, was worth it to us! It really made the space!

califlorican:  If you hate it, you hate it. Make sure you are happy with your wedding, regardless. You are spending a lot of money, regardless what your budget is (every wedding costs a lot). So make sure you don’t have regrets over something as silly as a chair. Having said that, they are chairs. Most likely, no one is  going to care about them but you lol If you have been to weddings, what are the things you didn’t notice? For me, I never notice or remember the chairs 😉

Chairs were a huge thing for me.  I rented $2.00 dark wood chairs for the ceremony and splurged on the $8.50 chairs for the reception.  They completed the look of the reception for me and I don’t care if no one else remembers the chairs- they’re in our pictures and *I* noticed them.  Did anyone see my $650 Jimmy Choos?  Not a single person…but it was our wedding…so I got them.

The chairs mattered to me as well.  Luckily, our venue has nice ones already there, but if they were metal, I would absolutely pay for an upgrade.

I’m paying an extra $600 to have Tiffany chairs because I despise chair covers, which are included in our reception package. My budget is bigger than yours but this is something I really wanted so I made it happen! At least get special chairs for yourself & your husband 🙂

When you get the pictures from the photographer will you see “ugh, metal chairs, wish I splurged” or “what a silly expense”? In the long run you will remember every detail of the wedding, good or bad but not each dollar spent. If it really matters to you then it is worth it.

If you are going to rent chairs at least rent comfortable chairs. Guest won’t care about the look of the chairs but they will notice if the chairs are not very comfortable. The bride and groom don’t sit in chairs for very long but the guest sure do so be mindful of that.

I am usually anti-chair covers and chair rentals, because I think the standard chairs offered by most venues are just fine.  The exception would be if they are metal folding chairs (or are super beat up and dirty).  In this case, I’d probably go for the wood ones!

califlorican:  to each her own. There’s always that one thing brides can’t let go of (quality-wise). for you, it’s chairs. for my sister, it was paper. for me, it’s alcohol…wait, that didn’t sound good LOL i meant signature drinks.

I made it a point to find a place that had nice chairs. If your venue already had decent looking chairs, i’d say NO! But.. metal folding chairs? Those will look soo out of place!
