I would be really annoyed if I went to any wedding and there weren’t enough chairs for everyone.  Especially a beach wedding, because I probably spent a lot of money to even be able to attend.

no but i think it could look a bit messy in the photos. i personally would prefer the lighter uglier chairs – as once everyone is in them you wont be able to see them anyway. and its more comfortable for the guests

Yes absolutely, you HAVE to have chairs at your ceremony for everyone.

Rent the lighter chairs. Most guests won’t notice pretty chairs but they would notice missing chairs.

@Hcr sounds like you’re putting visual and budget ahead of comfort when it comes to your guests (not polite). Either get lighter chairs (doubtful anyone will notice), pay for the heavier chairs to be moved, or move the chairs yourself. I’d be irked if I got all dressed up to go to a wedding and had to stand through someone’s ceremony on the beach.

@Hcrab81:  I didn’t mean you should move them in your wedding dress lol. I meant have the groom and groomsmen help out with it or something.

I can’t tell you the last three weddings I went to, what kind of chair I sat on. I literally don’t remember.

I’d rent the lighter chairs and call it a day.

Most garden/beach weddings in Australia only have chairs for about 20 or so people (older guests, close family) and the rest of us just stand. This is the norm here now and generally no one has an issue with it as it is expected. I personally love a chair to sit on though as I hate standing in heels for ages (ouch) and my Fiance in the past has had a bad back and needed a chair. I understand the cost though so I’d never complain.  I’m providing chairs for all guests at my wedding but I’m going against the grain by doing that. Ironically I will not be able to sit on one of them 🙂 I’m going to give one of my sisters friends $50 or something to put them out and pack them away as that isn’t included in the hire price – mabye you could do something like that to get around your venue being awkward?
