I need help! My wedding is next weekend, October 19th. We have hand etched fall leaves onto 200+ champagne glasses as wedding favors. I am now trying to decide what I want the tags to say. I have 2 ideas. The first is a little poem that I wrote. The second is an irish blessing/toast to our guests. I like the poem because it’s more personal, but I like the idea of a “Toast”, since it’s a glass. Let me know what you think:
Option #1:
When the cake has been cut and the dances had
When the bouquet has been thrown and the toasts read
When your belly is full and the party is through
Please take the champagne flute in front of you.
For you we hand etched this beauty with care
To remember our wedding and all the fun you had there.
Thank you for celebrating with us,
Mr. & Mrs. Shea
Option #2:
A Toast to our Guests:
May the sun shine all day long,
Everything go right, and nothing wrong.
May those you love bring love back to you,
and may all the wishes you wish come true!
Thank you for sharing our special Day!
All our love,
Mr. & Mrs. Shea

I like them both. Is there a way you can include each on a different side of the paper?

I picked Option #1 for two reasons:
- YOU wrote it, so it’s much more personal. The day is about you, after all.
- The poem explains that YOU and your FI hand-etched the favors; as a guest, I’d totally think, WOW.
I like the Irish toast, but I’ve heard/read it elsewhere.

I love the first option. It’s lovely because you wrote it & it shows the effort put into the favour.

@AlmostMrsShea: Sometimes it’s best to stick with tradition. I prefer the Irish toast as well.

@AlmostMrsShea: I like the second one. To be bluntly honest have no use for a personalised champagne glass and would probably leave it at the reception. But if I read a poem saying you hand etched it with love…I’d feel realy guilty and have to take it home with me or feel bad the next day. I think it’s a little..guilt-y though I’m sure you didn’t mean for it to be. I’m a person who is easily guilted so I might be reading too much into things.

Thanks for the input everyone. We went with option number 1, per the bridesmaid’s suggestion. They helped me etch them, and insisted that everyone know they were hand made. I guess they wanted to make sure their man-hours were appreciated, lol 4 days eek!

@Ruby-Redshoes: I’m not sure these are “personalized”, OP just says they hand etched “fall leaves” onto them. I would use a glass with fall leaves on it again. Now I agree if it has someone elses names on it, maybe not…but I think something that fits the theme but is not spelled out personalized is a fantastic idea!
OP: I loved option 1 as well since it was a personal touch.

I’m glad you went with option 1! It’s definitely worth letting people know that you did it yourself, and I also like that you’re very clear that these glasses are for taking home in your poem.

Love #1. Love that the glasses are etched with fall leaves and not personal names/dates. It would be something I could & would use again.
