We’re thinking of giving away a bottle of Champagne as a wedding favor. Does anyone know of one that is fairly inexpensive but still taste good? Are colors are pink and champagne so our local liquor store suggested Andre champagne Pink… Does anyone know how it taste? Thanks

Personally, I do not like Andre. Of any variety. And I love champagne/sparkling wine. It’s what I drank in college because it was suuuuuper cheap.
You could try checking out Trader Joe’s. They usually carry decent wines/champagnes for under $6. Or maybe you could get a nicer champagne but in the smaller sizes?

my thoughts on andre:
whenever i have a champagne punch, i put it in there (shhh…don’t tell my guests!)
but if i were to have it unmixed, i would not use andre. i also wouldn’t give it away.

I’m a little bit of a wine snob, but I wouldn’t even do Andre in champagne punch. (Though I would use a like-priced prosecco! 😉 )
For a while, they sold split packs of Piper-Heidsieck at Trader Joe’s, you could put a pink ribbon on it. There are also splits of a decent Mumm sparkling available.
Or, there is the Francis Ford Coppola Sofia blanc de blanc can with a straw. It’s kind of cute. The sparkling wine inside of it isn’t great, but it’s better than Andre.
There are bigger bottles in the Sofia line that are wrapped in pink, also.. But they’re more expensive. You should be able to order it in from your local liquor store, as Coppola is pretty widely distributed, I think.
If you want a full inexpensive bottle, I’d probably go with a Cava from Spain (again, just put a pink ribbon around it or something…. though some are Rose) Cristalino consistently gets decent reviews.

Yep, I agree! Skip the Andre! There are other decent choices out there. 🙂

@sonj818: I 2nd the Sofia. Not the best I’ve ever tasted but definitely better than Andre. That stuff sucks, quite frankly!
Pink by Yellowglen is delicious and fairly inexpensive. Best price I’ve seen is at Total Wine.
And I definitely 2nd the cava rec. Cristalino’s rose isn’t bad. But definitely check out Trader Joe’s. They used to have one called Monasteriolo for like $6 bucks. It was so yummy! But I’m not sure if they carry it anymore.

Thanks ladies.. I didn’t see this until now. I def do not want to do Andre as I am not a fan. I thought about doing Verdi Spumante but can’t find it anywhere in NYC. I’ve been looking. Thanks again I will look into the other suggestions ( I LOVE THE BOTTLES)
