I think wine and cake is a fine combo!

You could have Prosecco instead of champagne if you want to keep a more “champagne” feel. Or, a punch made with champagne (where you could use a much cheaper champagne than if you were serving the champagne by itself).

We’re doing a wine & beer only bar, so people will just toast with whatever they’re drinking.

Not only does it save us $$ in actual alcohol but it’s 1 less type of glass we need to rent from the caterer (it was actually their suggestion as the first thing to cut to bring down cost!)
