Hmm…. do you have a photo of what the chandeliers look like? And what the space looks like?

We had a plain tent and just used colored paper lanterns and I thought it looked good with just the lanterns:

If you aren’t going for that kind of look, what about mixing in twinkly light strands or even fabric draping on the ceiling with the chandeliers? I’m not sure lanterns and chandeliers go together. You could do something like this:

@Ms. Stallion: If you have time, you could go to fabric warehouses and see if you can get yards on the cheap. You could also just drape them over the beams so they hang down and add color/interest to the ceiling.

Or this would look good too with the lanterns or chandeliers (almost like being out under the stars):

If you use flowers (or ivy or whatever is to you taste) to decorate the chandeliers you could then make pomanders or garlands to tie in with the chandeliers 🙂

@Ms. Stallion: Wow… those are awesome! You actually could probably pair those with white lanterns. Or with twinkle ceiling lights. Your reception will be beautiful.

Those are stunning, I have never seen anything like them!  I think they will look great in your space.  I think the white lanterns could work but I really like KatNYC2011 idea of using twinkle lights!

@Ms. Stallion:  That last idea of yours is great!  Fabulous idea to use the white paper lanterns outside on the veranda!  Love the idea of just the twinkle lights inside.  If you really feel the need for fabric, but with the photo of the venue, it doesn’t look like you need to!  But  there are better ideas than muslim for draping ceilings.  I would use tulle I think.  You can get rolls of it in 6″widths, 9″ widths, or 12″ widths.  You could also use gossamer, but I think that has more shine than you may want.  Sometimes simple is better!  In the photo from

@KatNYC2011: you don’t really notice the other things on the ceiling, the lights just look gorgeous!  Plus you can get them after Christmas on sale! 🙂  What are you planning for centerpieces?

These might be fun with the chandeliers you have.  If you want more light, you could get mirrors to place underneath.

@Ms. Stallion: just out of curiosity how many tables do you have? is there a dance floor?

I like the idea of just the chandaliers and twinkle lights…the paper lanterns almost seem a little to much…or

You could divide them around the room. Six chandliers over each table? one chandalier over a table and paper balls over another?

Chandaliers over the tables and balls of the dance floor (or vice versa)?
