Talk to a seamstress.  While I think the dress can be shortened to what ever length you desire, the lace overlay may prove to be more costly to alter.  Good luck, I can see why you want to keep it since the dress flatters you so nicely.

Wooow, gorgeous dress! If you are to alter it, I would go for the high-to-low style so you could keep the train….otherwise I don’t think it would be worth making it shorter. I do think majorly altering it is possible, but it unfortunately won’t be cheap, so it might be more budget friendly to sell it and find a new one. But it’s certainly worth consulting with a seamstress in your area to know for sure 🙂

Bri.laboy :  don’t touch it I love it! Why not wear it to the courthouse and go for nice dinner? I eloped on the beach just us two and then went to dinner in my silk poufy bottom mermaid. It’s your wedding so if you love it don’t hack it

Bri.laboy :  I agree that touching the train is going to be more expensive than its worth. You could go high low but I also think you can leave it.

How come you can’t leave it as is?? Sure it’s a bit grand for a courthouse but it’s your wedding! If you love it, I say wear it.

I tried on a dress that was VERY similar and discussed the alterations for just making it shorter and it seemed like a lot of work taking off all the lace and reapplying it after it was shortened. We didn’t discuss cost but I can imagine the alterations you want would be fairly expensive.

It’s gorgeous. I wouldn’t touch it and just slay regardless at your courthouse wedding 🙂

Wear it just as is!!    Just because it is courthouse doesn’t make it  any less of a wedding or need any less of a wedding dress.

You look wonderful in that dress , shortening it will ruin the look and hi lo, while  it might preserve the train will be such a dated look in a  very short time .
