@yellowgold3846:   that’s me! 1.5mm, 18k yellow gold— should have done 14k … but I would do a search for independent jewelers in your area and give them a call. 1500 is bananas

@yellowgold3846:  online shops have such great deals on diamonds, they can charge a bit more for settings so shop around! 🙂

I was looking for a 2mm 14k rose gold flat band with a basket head setting for a 2ct oval moissanite, I was quoted anywhere from 600-900 which I thought was too high. So I kept looking and stumbled across Zhedora on Etsy and she had a ring with a cz in it exactly like I wanted for $210….so of course I bought it immediately. I paid my local jeweler $50 to remove the cz and put my moissy in it, so my total was $260 for something that could’ve been at least $600! I say check out Etsy shops…Zhedora or Yeefvm are two I suggest,  that sell solid gold settings with cz in them already because I have found it’s so much cheaper doing it this way. Goodluck I hope you can have your dream ring at a great price!!!

@yellowgold3846: thank you! Me too 😉  I honestly can’t tell the difference in color. I mean more for durability. 14k is stronger- more scratch resistant.
I wouldn’t pay more that 700 for the setting a reset if you aren’t changing out your prongs. It’s custom but it’s not something so detailed and extravagant… I hate when they throw that custom word out there. It’s LESS metal and gold ha

Totally agree with the bee before me. Don’t be afraid to hop on to Etsy and buy a setting. Just make sure it’s 14k and not plated etc. Etsy is a great spot for some quality pieces at a fair price.

You can also check with local jewelers in your area and see if they sell Stuller settings. The settings alone are fairly affordable and there’s lots of options.

@yellowgold3846:  unfortunately, it’s not possible to remove the pave, shave down the band and plate in yellow gold. A new setting would be needed

@yellowgold3846:  I have not read all of the responses yet, but $1500 is crazy. I spent around $300 on a 14k two tone gold setting for my sapphire. I think I aftually paid less than that, as they didn’t start on the ring until the day it was supposed to be picked up and thus was delayed. Anyway, here is a photo of it. White gold band and yellow gold prongs.
