We are about to leave for our international honeymoon, and I had all my forms printed and ready to go for my name change. I was planning on applying for my new SS card before I left so it would be here when I got back and then I could change my name at the DMV. The thing is, hubby said I should wait til I get back because I won’t have changed my passport?
I didn’t think that mattered as long as my ID and Passport are current and match our travel docs. But my SS card? Could that really affect things?
Did anyone change their SS card before their honeymoon?

Afterward. If they check the system and your legal name doesn’t match what is on your passport, there will be trouble.

@MrsSaltWaterTaffy: Thanks! Guess I’ll just deal with that fun when I get back!
And here I thought I had a great plan….HAH!

I did mine before and didn’t have an issue. I actually changed everything but my passport before the honeymoon. As long as your passport matches your ticket you’ll be fine.

I just wouldn’t try to mess with it. Stay with your maiden name on everything til you get back. Just less hassle every way you look at it.
