I recently changed my center stone from a moissanite to a gray spinel and I am in love! I was never a fan of the rainbow sparkle from moissanite and did not like that the brightness/sparkliness of it hindered the ability to see my setting. I found out about gray spinel from browsing these threads and never looked back. It was definitely a challenge finding the right cut and mm dimensions to fit my setting. I orderd my spinel from MD Maya Gems and would absolutely recommend them for gemstone purchasing.
Please excuse my nails!

Wow, that is really lovely, not like any other ring I’ve seen on these boards to date :). I love the tone of the gray, especially with the yellow gold!

So pretty! It looks absolutely gorgeous and has a richness to it now that’s just lovely! I adore spinel stones, they come in such unique colors and have a great sparkle.

It definitely fits the setting better, it has a lot of dimension.

WOW. Stunning. Seriously I love the grey. Moissanite is pretty, but I think your spinel fits better for sure – it added so much depth to your setting! It looks so luxurious ❤️

I LOVE that!! I had a diamond cluster in a halo setting, changed the center to moissanite and kept the halo but same thing, ended up not liking the moissy so went with a completely new ring. Yours looks amazing!!

Wow… good call! I adore the grey and gold color combo. That’s stunning!

I’m a clear stone girl, but I have to say that is seriously beautiful! The contrast of the clear halo with the gray is really striking! Such a good idea, I would never have thought to do that!

That is gorgeous! It looks so different with the spinel and the tones are so beautiful contrasting between the rose gold and gray. Love it!

That grey spinel is gorgeous in your setting. Your ring was beautiful before but the change is perfect. Congratulations! It’s striking and unique and lovely!

Thank you all! I debated on this for over a year and when I found the ring continued to sit in the box and not on my finger I knew I needed to take the plunge.

The moissy never grew on me! This is the first time I’ve ever worn a ring regularly and really did not like the attention it was getting. It was a little too much bling for me I guess.

That is exactly what my thoughts were. Almost immediately after I got it, I was second guessing it. It was definitely too blingy for me too. Good call on the switch! Your ring turned out gorgeous!!
