@creeative1:  Congratulations! 🙂

Now comes the fun (not really) part: Don’t forget to change your name with your employer, on all of your bank accounts, and with all of your credit card companies, your 401K plans, your doctors’ offices, insurance companies, alma maters …

@creeative1:  Congratulations! I still get giddy when I receive mail with my married name on it. Tip: be very careful to sign your married name on your social security card. I wasn’t paying attention and signed my maiden name, so I had to wait another week for them to send me a new one lol.

@creeative1:  how exciting!! I went to SS yesterday and I’m hoping to get to the DMV this week/weekend. I was annoyed that I had to pay for 3 copies of the marriage license (SS, DMV, passport) and the SS lady just handed it back to me. I could have used it twice!

It’s so much easier than it sounds!  I thought I would have to wait to get my drivers license until I got my social security card (they didn’t give me any nifty print out like they gave you) but when I went to DOL they didn’t need anything but my old ID and marriage license.  I was like “why did I wait, then?”

For all the other crap, it’s been helpful to make a big long list and as I changed things, cross them off so I don’t try to do it again.  I keep thinking of random store rewards programs and stuff and trying to change them multiple times because I didn’t make a note when I first changed it!  Ugh.

@creeative1:  yeah, she neglected to tell me that. I almost think it was on purpose to make more money for the state. But I’m not too worried about it. I got my name changed through SS and the DMV, just waiting for both to arrive in the mail 🙂

Next I have to send off for the passport but I’m still pissed mine’s only 2 years old and I have to repay the full amount. Oh well.
